“…I am the vine. You are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing… If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you…” –John 15:5 and 7
I unequivocally and wholeheartedly support the wish of the mother, whose child was allegedly killed as a result of President Rodrigo’s war on drugs, for an end to all drug-related killings. I also join the said mother in calling on the families of other victims to speak up. This is to ensure her son and the other deaths were not in vain. Additionally, they should also push beyond mere wishes and pursue a more important objective: Reading, meditating, and obeying God’s commands.
I no longer see a solution to the country’s illegal drugs problem. The president’s deadly war did not solve anything illegal drugs continue to proliferate—the battle against drugs was irretrievably lost before it began. It is time to admit the efforts by Duterte, the Philippine National Police, and other relevant agencies, along with the millions in government funding spent, amounted to nothing.
Many continue to distribute the illicit substance and profit handsomely on those who are hooked. What the country needs is God’s intervention. I can already hear the retort: God should have done this already. Why does God appear uninterested in solving the ongoing drug problem? Many Filipinos continue to wallow in abject ignorance. Preachers and religious leaders continue to claim simply praying and professing faith will do the trick but Jesus, our God and Savior, who is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, decreed in Matthew 7:21, not all who simply pray or call on Him would be listened to.
Jesus imposed conditions that must be strictly complied with in order to receive a favorable or beneficial response. Such conditions must be dutifully kept and remembered.
The conditions are easily available in many verses of the Bible, particularly, in Matthew 7:21 and Deuteronomy 28:1-2.
If there is a problem understanding them, I can be reached for discussion. Thank God in His Name of Jesus, Amen!
