Petron Blaze Spikers turned around a slow start to pull off a 26-24, 25-12, 25-19 sweep over the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers earlier this week in the 2019 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.
Trailing 17-11 early in the opening set, Petron rallied behind Bernadeth Pons to take a 20-18 edge. However, while Petron were still up 23-21, Generika-Ayala went on to tie the count at 24-all. Petron eventually managed to take the set on errors committed by their opponent.
In the second set, Petron displayed its dominance, jumping to a 16-9 lead, ultimately ending with a 2-0 lead.
Generika-Ayala tried to stay alive in the third but hits from Mary Remy Palma and Pons helped Petron cruise to a straight-set win.
In the other match, the Foton Tornadoes Blue Energy came from behind to score an 18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-15, 15-4 win over the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors.
Jaja Santiago delivered 22 points on 14 kills, six blocks, and two service aces for Foton; while Marian Buitre, who was fielded in the third set, contributed 15 points off eight attacks, five aces, and two blocks./ASC, WDJ
