Three earthquakes were detected in the vicinity of La Castellana last Tuesday night.
According to bulletins released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the first quake, measuring 2.5 in magnitude, struck just east of the Negros Occidental town at 8:20 p.m.; a 2.1-magnitude tremor then struck north at 10:09 p.m.; six minutes later, a 2.0-magnitude earthquake was detected.
Phivolcs disclosed there were no damages reported as a result of any of the earthquakes.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected
Meanwhile, while the epicenters of the three earthquakes were all pinpointed very close to the town, Phivolcs did not identify the second or third quakes as aftershocks./WDJ
