The scheduled match between Ceres-Negros FC and Global Makati FC yesterday at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite was postponed after the Makati City-based club failed to field a team.
The Philippines Football League (PFL) put out an advisory yesterday afternoon.
“The match has been abandoned due to inability of Global-Makati to field a team,” the league confirmed. “The status of the match and the club shall be dealt with accordingly.”
Last season, when Global was based in Cebu City, a match against Kaya FC-Iloilo had also been postponed after the former admitted financial matters prevented the club from traveling.
The Bacolod City-based club currently sits in first place on the PFL table, tied on 19 points with Kaya FC but with a greater goal difference and one game in hand. Meanwhile, Global is currently second-to-last place after earning one win and five losses.
Ceres next faces Green Archers United this weekend, July 21.
Prior to yesterday’s scheduled match, Global Makati fell 9-0 to Green Archers United./ASC, WDJ
