Following their earlier 98-72 win over the Iran U23 team in the ongoing 2019 William Jones Cup, Mighty Sports-Philippines went 2-0 after their 90-74 win over Jordan over the weekend at the Changhua County gymnasium in Taiwan.
Eugene Phelps top-scored for the Philippines with 20 points, while Renaldo Balkman added 17 points, and Roosevelt Adams scored 11 markers.
Much like their game against Iran, the Philippines started strong with a 10-2 scoring run in the opening quarter, resulting in a 21-14 edge off a three-point play by Balkman. The Philippines continued to surge in the second with Phelps converting nine straight points and Adams also contributing to offense for a 44-29 advantage at the half.
The Philippines went on to build its largest lead at 68-44 late in the third period after back-to-back triples by Mikey Williams.
Jordan made its final push in the fourth but only got as close as 16 markers./ASC, WDJ
