A house helper was hospitalized last Wednesday after he was allegedly mauled and slashed by two men he met online in Bacolod City’s Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Police identified the victim as 23-year-old Armando Aldea, a resident of Kabankalan City.
Police Station 8 (PS8) commander, Police Major Charles Gever, said, prior to the incident, Aldea met two men on social media. The victim then invited the two over to the home of his employer, who was not home at the time of the incident.
When the two suspects arrived they immediately struck Aldea with an empty bottle and repeatedly hacked him with a machete.
The suspects then proceeded to rob the residence and carted away with a laptop, wrist watch, an electronic gadget, and jewelry. The stolen items are valued at P35,000.
Although critically wounded, the victim survives the attack and was later rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.
Gever said they have made contact with the victim’s employer, who told them that he had repeatedly advised the victim not to allow strangers inside the home.
PS8 currently has a lead on the identities of the suspects and are presently conducting a follow-up operation./DGB, WDJ
