UPHSD Altas beats Mapua, 80-78

Ilonggo player Edgar Charcos delivered for the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA-Atlas (UPHSD Altas) in the closing minutes of their 80-78 win over Mapúa University in the 95th NCAA senior men’s basketball season last Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.
With the score tied at 69-all, Charcos was able to draw a foul on Denniel Aguirre and scored two freebies to put UPHSD Altas up 71-69 before scoring eight more, putting them ahead 77-69. Mapúa then rallied and got as close as 79-78 on a three-pointer by Laurenz Victoria; however, Charcos increased their advantage anew to 80-78 with a free throw before Mapúa missed their final attempt.
The Iloilo City-native Charcos scored 11 of his 16 points in the final quarter, along with offering up eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
Tonton Peralta led UPHSD Altas with 20 points; while Benedict Adamos contributed eight points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks.
In the other game, San Sebastian College-Recoletos scored a dominating 82-51 win over José Rizal University./ASC, WDJ
