Negrense club back atop the PFL standings

A brace from midfielder Bienvenido Marañón allowed Ceres-Negros FC to come back from a goal down to take the first “Visayas Clásico” of the 2019 Philippines Football League (PFL) yesterday after they beat Kaya-FC Iloilo, 2-1, at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
Towards the end of a scoreless first half, Kaya FC found themselves at a disadvantage after midfielder Arnel Amita was shown a red card for dragging Ceres midfielder OJ Porteria to the ground.
However, at the restart, despite being down to 10 mean, Kaya FC striker Jovin Bedic found the back of the net in the 52nd minute.
In an effort to ensure the Ilonggo club did not pull further ahead in the standings, Marañón scored the equalizer in the 68th minute off a pass from fellow midfielder Stephan Schröck. The two paired up again four minutes later when Schröck passed to Marañón, who headed in the decisive goal.
Following the match, the two clubs sit atop the PFL standings tied on 16 points. Although, Ceres FC gets a boost for their superior goal difference; additionally, the Bacolod City-based club also has one game in hand./ASC, WDJ
