Ferrer hopes UNegA’s PCL-Negros candidate runs unopposed
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga
Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer yesterday revealed the Provincial Board has yet to tackle the coal issue, in particular, the proposed San Carlos City coal-fired power plant. The vice governor also noted, he is unable to take a position as of yet and, as presiding officer, is only eligible to vote on the matter in the event of a tie.
The issue had already been heard by the previous provincial board.
Meanwhile, Ferrer affirmed there are no “political lines” within the present provincial board.
“We won as one because we have the merger,” he insisted. “There’s no majority or minority [on] the provincial board.”
In terms of the Negros Occidental Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL), the vice governor confirmed the United Negros Alliance (UNegaA) will field Sagay City Councilor Arthur Marañon to lead the provincial chapter with hopes he runs unopposed.
