Bacolod City hosts motorcade
In recognition of National Disaster Resilience Month, which was declared by President Rodrigo Duterte via executive order in 2017 and is observed throughout July, the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) hosted a motorcade around the city earlier this week.
The event, which started at the Bacolod City Government Center, included participation by the Bacolod City Police Office, City Health Office, Department of Social Services and Development, Philippine Red Cross, Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade, Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade, Philippine Army 303rd Infantry Brigade, various rescue units, among other organizations.
During his address, CDRRMO officer-in-charge Dondon Parandas emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness.
Earlier this month, the National Youth Commission recently shared a post on social media reminding the public of the components of a basic survival kit.
Citing the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the indicated necessities include a first aid kit; emergency items such as a flashlight, portable radio, batteries, candles and matches, among other related items; hygienic needs such as clothes, toiletries, and tissues; personal belongings including identification card with blood type, important documents, and emergency numbers; along with food and water./WDJ
