The Ayala Capitol Central Mall revealed they will be continuing “No Plastic Wednesday,” a program that began last March and seeks to limit the use of plastics. In observance of the campaign, stores are discouraged from using plastic items such as shopping bags, straws, and utensils.
“We want to help in raising awareness about how human activity is affecting our environment and encourage people to take action to help,” said Ayala Capitol Central Mall marketing manager Stephanie Soriano. “Customers can also do something to help by bringing their own ‘eco-bags’ and reusable containers, utensils, and straws.”
“This is a start; we plan to make more steps in being sustainable,” she added.
Last April, following the Earth Hour observance, where electricity was switched off for one hour, Mikel S. Claur of the Ayala Capitol Central Mall marketing team said the retail establishment is looking to continue their work with environmental issues.
“Ayala Malls is open to any organization [that] supports the cause of the environment,” he said.
“Ayala Malls is participating in this big step for this collaborative effort, from different establishments worldwide, to protect the environment,” Claur explained. “That is why we encourage our customers to help our environment by refusing to use plastics or plastic straws, and reuse their grocery bags.”/WDJ
