Two Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod councilors failed to take their respective oaths of office during the recent inauguration ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby.
According to Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, City Councilor Elmer Sy has been confined at a hospital since last weekend due to hypertension, while City Councilor Al Espino arrived late and missed the formal ceremony.
Senators Vicente Sotto and Juan Miguel Zubiri, alongside Commission on Elections commissioner Rowena Guanzon, were on hand to administer the oath of office to various local officials. Senator Franklin Drilon was initially supposed to be part of the ceremony but bad weather prevented him from making it to the event.
In his address, Sotto said the city should be an example to Negros Occidental and “upgrade the local governance.”/DGB, WDJ
