Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II, yesterday revealed he has been tasked by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to formally provide personnel with designations. The provincial official said he has been processing appointment letters since Monday, all of which need to be signed by the governor.
Diaz confirmed all appointments have been signed as of yesterday; however, 42 posts, including his office and the Provincial Legal Office, require concurrence, or endorsement, from the Provincial Board.
Meanwhile, the provincial administrator said they are currently conducting an inventory of human resources and have ordered all personnel to report back to their original positions.
“I’m focusing on putting all manpower in place, in order for all government functions to run smoothly,” Diaz added.
Earlier, Lacson announced the provincial government would be laying off over 300 contractual workers and job order employees after their contracts were allowed to expire last Sunday, June 30.
With regard to casual employees assigned to provincial hospitals, he speculated most will be retained “for another three months.”
“They should prove themselves, especially if they want to become regular employees,” the governor added./DGB, WDJ
