The Iloilo United Royals pulled off a stunner in the ongoing Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup following their 84-78 win over the Bataan Risers last Monday at the Blue Eagles Gym in Quezon City.
Former Bataan center Richard Escoto scored 19 points and delivered 11 rebounds for the Ilonggo side; while Ilonggo point guard Aaron Jeruta added 19 points; and Samboy de Leon contributed 16.
Following a tight contest in the first three periods, Iloilo pulled away in the fourth period and led by as much as nine points. Bataan then responded and worked to cut the deficit but outside conversions from Jeruta sealed the win./ASC, WDJ
