Romero: Ticket prices will be 20% lower

After Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier lauded the reported growing support for AirAsia to begin flying into Bacolod-Silay Airport, One Patriotic Coalition of Marginalized Nationals partylist Rep. Michael Romero, who concurrently serves as vice chairman for the airline, confirmed AirAsia Philippines will soon fly a Manila-Bacolod-Manila route.
Romero said a third player in Negros Occidental will provide 20 percent cheaper airfare than competitors currently traveling through the airport.
He projected operations will begin before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, during her recent visit to Negros Occidental, outgoing house speaker, Pampanga second district Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, revealed the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and Department of Transportation are currently evaluating an unsolicited offer by a Davao City-based company to expand and develop Bacolod-Silay Airport.
According to the former president, the Udenna Infrastructure Corporation earlier submitted a P19.3 billion proposal for the project. The firm is owned by Dennis Uy, who also chairs transport firm 2GO Group Inc., along with Phoenix Petroleum being a subsidiary of the Udenna Corporation./DGB, WDJ
