Petron Blaze Spikers struggled against the Cignal HD Spikers in their 2019 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference match last Saturday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center, pulling off a 25-20, 18-25, 25-16, 16-25, 16-14 win.
Frances Molina led the win with 25 points, including 21 attacks; while Ilongga outside hitter Aiza Maizo-Pontillas earned a triple-double on 11 markers, 24 digs, and 11 excellent receptions.
Cignal broke an 11-11 tie in the fifth set by taking a 13-11 lead and eventually reached match point at 14-12; however, Molina led a 4-0 run to take the win.
“It was a hard-earned win for us, Cignal pushed us to the limit,” said Petron head coach Ceseal delos Santos. “I’m happy that my team held on tight and didn’t crumble.”
In the other match, Foton Tornadoes Blue Energy came from behind to secure a 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 win over the PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters./ASC, WDJ
