The Columbian Dyip pulled off a 134-132 overtime win over the San Miguel Beermen last night in the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Dyip got off to an early start with a 32-22 lead on hits from Lester Prosper before the Beermen went on to make it a one-point game; however, the Dyip regained their edge going into halftime.
In the third, the Dyip pulled ahead to an 84-70 lead off conversions by Rashawn McCarthy.
The Beermen then inched their way back in the final quarter and eventually forced the game into overtime off a triple from Arwind Santos.
McCarthy, Jaymar Perez, and Glenn Khobuntin came up with big plays in the extension period and pushed the Dyip to a 132-128 advantage with 44 seconds left. Despite having limited time, the Beermen managed to narrow the deficit to 132-130 but a layup from Perez sealed the win.
Prosper led the victory with 40 points and 13 rebounds, while Perez scored 34 points, and McCarthy added 27./ASC, WDJ
