Ceres-Negros FC followed up their 2019 AFC Cup exit with a dominating 4-0 win over Mendiola FC in the 2019 Philippines Football League (PFL) over the weekend at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.
Midfielder Bienvenido Marañón opened scoring early in the match, heading in the first goal in the second minute off a pass from fellow midfielder Stephan Schröck. In the 28th minute, the Bacolod City-based club saw their lead double from an own goal by Aljo Zabala.
The match went into halftime with Ceres up 2-0.
In the second half, striker Curt Dizon put the Negrense side ahead 3-0 in the 65th minute, with Marañón making it 4-0 in the 79th minute off a cross from defender Sean Kane.
Following the win, Ceres moves into third place on the PFL table, with two games in hand against second place Stallion-Laguna FC and one game in hand against first place Kaya FC-Iloilo./ASC, WDJ
