San Carlos City earns Seal of Good Environmental Governance platinum award

San Carlos City, through its City Environment Management Office (CEMO), was recently granted the Seal of Good Environmental Governance platinum award. CEMO environmental management specialist II, Engr. Arthur Batomalaque, said the recognition will provide opportunity to develop more initiatives to improve forest protection, solid waste, waste water, and coastal resources management.
The city is currently embroiled in a political debate over the coal-fired power plant proposed for the locality.
Aside from Batomalaque, also accepting the award were San Carlos City Vice Mayor-elect Christopher Paul Carmona; City Councilor Clint Mansueto; City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office OIC, Engr. Magnolia Antonio; City Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Engr. Loreto Sanchez; and selected CEMO personnel.
Meanwhile, San Carlos City schools were also recognized. Pagbatangan Elementary School received its third platinum award, Iliranan Elementary School won its second platinum award, Florentina Ledesma Elementary School and Balabag Elementary School each earned a silver award, and Cabunao Elementary School was awarded a bronze./DGB, WDJ
