Next term to focus on improving healthcare, education

Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo recently delivered his State of the City Address before the Sangguniang Panlungsod, where he lauded the city’s rice development program.
According to the mayor, the program has increased the city’s annual yield from 3.92 metric tons (MT) in 2016 to 4.43 MT in 2018. He also noted, the locality is currently at 263.8 percent rice sufficiency.
The mayor pointed out, such developments earned the city Department of Agriculture National Rice Achievers Awards in 2017 and 2018.
Last March, Sitio Camingawan, located in the city’s Barangay Taloc, hosted the Field Day and Harvest Festival, which highlighted mechanized farming, with Bago City earlier identified as a pilot area for the province’s Farm Mechanization Program.
The city was also recognized by the Pagdayaw 2018 Regional Excellence in Local Governance last December as it was named “Champion in Economic Governance” for its rice development program.
In addition, Yulo also discussed investments made in tourism, with P19 million funding developing of the Bantayan Park riverfront through their “Green, Green, Green” program.
The mayor, who ran unopposed during his reelection campaign in last month’s midterm elections, said his next term will focus on improving services and operations at Bago City Hospital and Bago City College.
