“…Who among the gods is like you, LORD… The LORD reigns forever and ever…” –Exodus 15:11 and 18

This column will dwell once again on the ongoing water shortage in Metro Manila in order to underscore an imperative point—there is no other solution to this problem but our God and Savior whose name is Jesus, our God and Savior who is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is important to realize that only God can allow water to flow again to the millions dependent on Maynilad Water Services, Manila Water, and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System. Although, how does one ask God to bring back the water?
While many are already calling for prayer; however, it is obvious many who call on God will not have their devotions answered. In order for God to answers a prayer, those in need must be obedient and follow God’s commands. Those who do nothing but ask will get nothing. Before one seeks God’s intervention, they must read the Bible first in order to understand the commands, which must remain in one’s heart and mind.
The Bible is full of stories about God providing water. One pertains to the absence of potable water in a place called Marah (Exodus 15), where the water tasted bitter. The Israelites besieged Moses with complaints, prompting God to directly provide drinking water. In a place called Rephidim, the Israelites also did not have water to drink. They complained to Moses once again, who sought God’s assistance right away. Following God’s command, Moses struck the rock in Horeb and fresh drinking water flowed immediately. They later called these places Massah and Meribah.
If Metro Manila residents want to solve the ongoing water shortage, they must learn to properly ask God. They must subject themselves to Him and His commands in return for water.
Many may consider what I’m saying is a joke but do they have another solution?
