Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia’s local political coalition, Grupo Progreso (GP), is planning a caucus to determine committee chairmanships for the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP). The coalition won all but one set on the local legislative body.
Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who presides over the SP, recently told Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod the caucus is tentatively scheduled for next weekend, June 29. The city official said he is checking city councilor schedules as some are currently out of the country.
There are a total of 31 committees with each council expected to hold two chair positions.
GP won all but one seat on the city council after incumbent City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr., a member of the opposing Asenso for Better Bacolod-Magbinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan coalition, beat out GP bet Marlon Solidum for the last spot.
The councilors are set to take their posts on June 30./DGB, WDJ
