Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) officer-in-charge Dondon Parandas has placed his office on alert ahead of the Feast of St. John the Baptist, which falls on Monday, June 24.
According to the CDRRMO official, they are expecting a surge of visitors to city beach resorts, especially those located in Barangay Punta Taytay.
Parandas said all city rescue groups will be on stand-by in Barangay Punta Taytay and at beaches in the reclamation area.
The CDRRMO also carried out inspections of city resorts to ensure they always have a registered-lifeguard on standby.
During last year’s observance, the CDRRMO reported no incidents of drowning.
CDRRMO cluster head, Executive Assistant Joemarie Vargas, said celebrations at beaches and resorts throughout the city were peaceful and without untoward incident.
Vargas noted the 26 on-duty lifeguards, who were all accredited by the Philippine Coast Guard, were on standby at various resorts./DGB, WDJ
