Tay Tung retains regional title

Bacolod Tay Tung High School successfully defended their Rebisco Volleyball League 18-Under regional title last Sunday after their 25-13, 25-13, 25-10 win over Central Philippine University (CEU) in the finals at the University of St. La Salle gym in Bacolod City.
Tay Tung opened each set with strong starts behind Alyssa Bertolano, Joan Marie Monares, and Shane Carmona before thwarting subsequent runs from CEU.
In terms of individual awards, Bertolano was named Most Valuable Player while Carmona won Best Outside Hitter.
Joining them on the Tay Tung roster were Rhean Almendralejo, Aurea Alvero, Gwen Bañas, Kiesha Bedonia, Annikha Cabasac, Katherine Cortez, Erika Deloria, Nicolei Galvan, and Kathleen Tan.
The winning squad advanced to the Rebisco Volleyball League national finals, which are scheduled to take place in November.
“We are happy with the opportunity to represent the Western Visayas again in the national finals,” said Tay Tung assistant coach Biboy Calamba. “Rest assured, the girls will give their best just like what we did last year.”/ASC, WDJ
