Barangay Ginebra San Miguel evaded the San Miguel Beermen after scoring a 110-107 overtime win last Sunday in the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Tied at 99-all, Barangay Ginebra moved first on a triple from Earl Scottie Thompson but the Beermen forced another deadlock on three straight points by June Mar Fajardo. Barangay Ginebra then gained the advantage anew, leading 107-102 after a basket from LA Tenorio and a three-point play by Justin Brownlee. However, the Beermen refused to be left behind and closed the gap to 109-106.
The Beermen got as close as 109-107 but Chris Ross misfired a three-pointer, allowing Barangay Ginebra to wrap up the victory on a split freebie by Tenorio.
