A man wanted on illegal gambling suspicions drowned to death last week after trying to elude arrest by jumping into the Talubangi River in Ilog’s Barangay Andulawan.
Police identified the fatality as 33-year-old Hernan Arroz, a resident of Barangay Talubangi, Kabankalan City.
Based on information provided by Ilog municipal police, they conducted a raid at a suspected illegal gambling den, reportedly being run by the suspect. However, Arroz jumped over a nearby dike to elude arrest.
He remained missing for two days until his remains were recovered last Friday.
Police observed injuries to the victim’s neck, legs, and eyes; although they may have been incurred upon jumping into the river.
Arroz’ remains are scheduled to undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death./DGB, WDJ
