Sagay City celebrates Charter Day

Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III kicked off the city’s Charter Day celebration last week, where he sought unity among city residents.
“All our dreams and aspirations for a progressive city and prosperity for all Sagaynons can be achieved if we stay united and do our share as responsible citizens,” he said. “Sagay City can only be better if we acknowledge our shortcomings and work hard to provide long-lasting solutions.”
Outgoing Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., the mayor’s father, served as guest speaker.
Also speaking during the observance was Negros Occidental second district Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva, who took his oath of office during the event.
He echoed the mayor’s theme, saying, “Sagay City progressed through its people joining hands in making it happen.”
Other events that took place included live music, a job fair, bicycle fun ride, game fishing competition, among other activities./WDJ
