Defender Alfred Osei scored the lone goal in Kaya FC-Iloilo’s 1-0 win in the ongoing 2019 Philippines Football League over United Makati FC over the weekend at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila. Osei’s goal came in the second half, in the 52nd minute, following a missed conversion by Kaya striker Jovin Bedic.
“Honestly, it was a lucky goal,” the defender pointed out. “I’ll take that any day, especially with a performance like that, being that sloppy in front of goal.”
“The chance was there, and I just took it,” he added.
Kaya FC head coach Noel Marcaida also acknowledged that luck was on their side.
“It’s a good thing that we got three points,” he said. “It’s not that we played badly, we created chances [and] were able to play the ball around well, but, moving forward, we need to work on our finishing.”
“We need to be more clinical and composed in front of goal,” the head coach added. “We have to be conscious moving forward.”
