The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Board-Region VI (DENR-EMB-6) recently granted the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) an environmental compliance certificate (ECC), which are required for certain projects to proceed.
The certification, which cleared the way for the school’s UNO-R Campus Site Development Project, makes UNO-R the first school in the province to be granted an ECC.
DENR regional director, Dr. Sofie T. Manuel, recently turned over the certificate to UNO-R president, Fray Don H. Besana.
According to a release put out by the school, “With the ECC, UNO-R now takes the lead in the pursuit towards campus environmental sustainability in the province [and] vigorously committing itself to create a positive impact on the environment and the community.”/WDJ
