TNT KaTropa rode on outside shooting by Roger Pogoy to score a 104-96 victory over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup last Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Pogoy scored 10 triples and finished with a career-high 38 points; while Terrence Jones earned a triple-double on 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 16 assists.
Pogoy and Jayson Castro pushed TNT KaTropa to an early 39-28 lead; however, Barangay Ginebra later pulled ahead, taking a slim 49-48 halftime edge.
In the third, TNT KaTropa appeared to lose their shooting touch as Barangay Ginebra extended their advantage to 79-69 on conversions from Justin Brownlee and Joe Devance.
TNT KaTropa then countered with a 12-0 blast, including five straight points from Pogoy, to take an 81-79 lead. Three outside hits from Pogoy and Celedonio Trollano, along with a three-point play by Jones, gave KaTropa its largest lead at 104-92./ASC, WDJ
