An Indian national recently drowned in the Malugo River at Hacienda Mercedez, located in EB Magalona’s Barangay Alicante.
Police identified the fatality as 24-year-old Ranjodh Singh, a temporary resident of Barangay 7, Victorias City.
EB Magalona municipal police chief, Police Captain Jaynick Bermudez, said Singh’s remains were discovered by a local farmer who was bringing his carabao to the river.
Bermudez said Singh was previously involved in a lending business later ceased operations.
The police chief said a few days before the discovery, Singh was reportedly drinking heavily and had failed to return home.
His family later filed a missing person report to the Victorias City police.
Police did not find any wounds, which would have pointed to foul play, although they noted the remains were already in a state of decomposition.
EB Magalona police are presently awaiting a decision from Singh’s family whether to conduct an autopsy./DGB, WDJ
