Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) recently revealed they have apprehended 520 gun ban violators since January of this year. Based on records released by the regional police force, as of June 4, they have recovered a total 900 firearms throughout the region.
Data also showed a majority of the violators were civilians, totalling 500.
In addition, four government officials were nabbed, along with one barangay official.
The police force has also recovered a total 160 bladed weapons, 40 gun replicas, 32 grenades, 10 explosive devices, and 3,400 rounds of assorted ammunition.
Last month, the Bacolod City Police Office reported a total of 58 arrests in relation to Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban violations.
Based on records released by the law enforcement division, they confiscated a total 39 firearms, 15 bladed weapons, 229 round of ammunition, and two grenades.
Those found guilty of violating the Comelec gun ban face one to six years in prison.
Violators will also be banned from voting in future elections, while disobedient candidates may also be barred from holding public office./DGB, WDJ
