Kaya FC-Iloilo won their second consecutive 2019 Philippines Football League match after their recent 2-0 win over Stallion-Laguna FC at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
Ilonggo striker Jovin Bedic opened scoring with a penalty kick, which was earned following a foul committed against teammate, Kaya forward Darryl Roberts.
Stallion-Laguna defender OJ Clarino and striker Nathan Alquiros nearly scored equalizers but they were both denied by Kaya keeper Louie Michael Casas.
By the 70th minute, midfielder Jesus Melliza offered up another chance for the Laguna-based side to tie the match but was denied. Two minutes later, Kaya forward Jordan Mintah made it 2-0.
“From the first minute, my players showed that they had that desire to get the three points,” said Kaya head coach Noel Marcaida. “Playing Stallion in their home is not easy but we came with a plan to stop their quick attacks.”
With the victory, the Ilonggo side secured solo first place in the standings./ASC, WDJ
