Bacolod City-based lawyer, Atty. Leon Moya, is demanding P2.2 million from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as he claims their planned “tourism road,” which is intended to connect tourist attractions in Talisay City and Bacolod City, passes through land he owns in Bacolod City’s Barangay Granada.
He has since threatened to close the road next week if his demands are not met, saying, “I’m turning 80 years old and I have people working for me that need to be paid.”
The stretch of road in question connects Bacolod City Barangays Granada and Alangilan.
“I am telling the DPWH people to do their jobs and not just sit on their air-conditioned offices and wait for their salaries every 15th and 30th of the month,” Moya added.
The landowner said he was earlier informed a check was ready but he has yet to receive it.
Meanwhile, Moya also called on Eduard Alunan to pay him for using his land. This particular piece of land currently serves as an exit point for the Charito Heights Subdivision, which is owned by Alunan.
“Alunan still owes me P750,000,” he affirmed.
The landowner claimed Alunan pays “based on his mood.”
Yesterday, Moya erected a bamboo grill across the exit way of the subdivision preventing vehicles from passing through.
“I will only open it when he pays me,” he said./DGB, WDJ
