University of the Philippines ladies’ volleyball head coach Godfrey Okumu recently highlighted middle blocker Joan Marie Monares and hitter Alyssa Bertolano, two standouts from Bacolod Tay Tung High School, after observing their abilities during the earlier 2019 Palarong Pambansa and JGM Finance Corporation 17-Under Girls’ Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
“One thing I like about them is their fighting spirit,” he said. “Another thing is the leadership they showed when they were playing for Bacolod Tay Tung High School.”
Monares still has one more year at Tay Tung, while Bertolano has two./ASC, WDJ
