Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) forward Ferdinand ‘Thirdy’ Ravena III was recently named Basketball Player of the Year during the 2019 Chooks-to-Go Collegiate Press Corps Awards, which took place at the Amelie Hotel Manila.
“It’s a great feeling to be recognized, especially for an award like this,” he said. “Lahat ng mga pinaghirapan ko, finally nagpay-off (All of my hardships have finally paid off).”
“I owe this all to my teammates—of course, also the hardworking coaching staff of our team—we’ve come this far because of them,” said the Ilonggo player. “I also dedicate this award to my family, my friends, and those who have supported us in this journey.”
Ravena was recognized after leading AdMU to its second consecutive UAAP senior men’s basketball title.
He was also named to the All-Collegiate Team alongside Robert Bolick of San Beda University, Prince Eze of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA-Atlas, and University of the Philippines players Bright Akhuetie and Paul Desiderio./ASC, WDJ
