According to the Iloilo City Animal Bite Treatment Center, a total of 122 individuals received treatment in the first quarter of 2019.
“We give vaccinations to people bitten by animals,” explained Medical Officer IV, Dr. Maila Buyco.
Situated in the Ker & Co. building, which is located behind City Hall, the center provides treatment and consultation for patients bitten by dogs, cats, goats, pigs, cows, and carabao. It also provided free anti-rabies vaccinations.
Earlier this year, the Bacolod City Health Office Animal Bite Center showed, between January and March 19, there have been 1,929 recorded dog bites in the city.
Rabies Coordinator Gloria Parreño pointed out a downward trend in the number of dog bites reported as there were 518 cases recorded in March, down from the 794 in January./WDJ
