the Bacolod City SP takes oath

Re-elected Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. took his oath of office as the twelfth member of the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) last Friday at the Acacia Hotel. As a member of the Asenso for Better Bacolod-Magbinuligay Kita para sa Kauswagan political coalition, he is the lone member of the opposition on the local legislative body.
His election foiled plans of a 15-0 by the ruling Grupo Progreso (GP) political coalition, which is led by Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
“It is going to be a tough job; a very challenging and very pressure-packed three years as far as I’m concerned,” the city councilor said.
Gamboa said he would maintain his positions and oppose any policies he deems harmful to the city. However, the city official also said he would not stand in the way of proposals that would benefit the city overall.
The newly-elected and re-elected GP officials held their oath-taking earlier at the GT Hotel.
Gamboa beat GP bet Marlon Solidum by 674 votes for the last spot on the SP./DGB, WDJ
