According to Cadiz City Mayor-elect Salvador Escalante, Jr., the merger between local political coalitions, the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) and Love Negros, will hold, noting, “As long as the merger holds, harmony will prevail.”
“Right now, the ball is in the governor’s hands,” he added. “[Negros Occidental Governor-elect Eugenio Jose Lacson] knows too well the effects of a failed merger.”
The former Negros Occidental Provincial Board member ran for Cadiz City mayor to replace his brother, incumbent Mayor Patrick Escalante.
Last Friday, UNegA passed a resolution thanking allies in the recent midterm elections.
In the resolution, UNegA officers and members affirmed their “commitment to work tirelessly to promote and protect the welfare of all Negrenses.”/DGB, WDJ
