Following the recent Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival, which was held over the weekend, the Bacolod City government plans on expanding the event next year.
Bacolod City Councilor Cindy Rojas, who chaired the event, said they plan on expanding next year’s event from the 30 chicken inasal establishments gathered for this year’s festival.
She added, they also plan on extending the length of the grill used during the event.
This year’s festival utilized a 300-meter grill that stretched from the Bacolod Public Plaza to San Sebastian Street, where around 3,000 pieces of chicken were grilled.
Last year, the festival’s inaugural celebration, the resolution approving the observance scheduled the event to take place “in the first week of May.” However, Rojas earlier authored an amendment changing it to the “”ourth weekend of May,” citing scheduling issues with this year’s midterm elections.
The committee noted, future festivals will be held over the course of two days.
Last year, Bacolod City Councilor Em Ang speculated the event would become as big as the annual MassKara Festival./DGB, WDJ
