Property developer Megaworld Corporation yesterday announced the construction of a P1.2 billion lifestyle mall within their 34-hectare Upper East Township project in Bacolod City.
Megaworld Chief Strategy Officer Kevin Tan said the mall’s design will be highlighted by a 48-meter tall clock tower, calling it a “major landmark” along the six-lane avenue of the township, which will stretch from Lopez Jaena Street to Circumferential Road.
Tan went on to characterize the mall as “an architectural masterpiece that depicts the cosmopolitan vibe of the Bacolod City township.”
“This is just the first mall that we are building in this township because there is still more room for future expansion,” he added.
In addition, Tan pointed out the mall would house several rows of restaurants facing a garden of century-old trees, which will be surrounded by Koi ponds. It will also house four state-of-the-art cinemas and an open-air food hall with an indoor garden.
Megaworld is allocating P1.2 billion, which forms part of the P28 billion capital spending that the company earlier announced.
It is expected to be completed by 2021.
“In the next three to five years, we will see the residential towers, office towers, commercial buildings, hotel, church, parks, and this new lifestyle mall rising,” Tan stated. “We will also be opening Upper East Avenue to the public in two years.”
Construction on the mall is set to begin before the end of this year with completion set for 2021./DGB, WDJ
