The Visayas chapter of Kilusang Pagbabago, an organization in support of the President Rodrigo Duterte administration, expressed optimism over federalism following the results of the recent midterm elections.
“The proclamation of [a] majority of pro-administration senators in the ‘Magic 12’ makes federalism achievable before 2022,” the organization said in a statement.
According to lead convenor Doris Mongaya, the new makeup of the Senate will make federalism more likely to pass within the next three years.
The organization endorsed seven candidates, including recently-proclaimed winners former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go, retired Philippine National Police Director General Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa, former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority head Francis Tolentino, and incumbent Senators Cynthia Villar and Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III./WDJ
