Fired employees may file complaint before the Ombudsman
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

At least 14 barangay health workers and four daycare workers were sacked from their respective posts after Barangay Buluangan Captain Aniceto Baldegamo of Hinoba-an issued a termination order against them for reportedly not following orders.
In response, Hinoba-an Mayor Ernesto Estrao said the fired employees approached his office after Baldegamo issued the order last Thursday
The mayor said Baldegamo’s decision was illegal, claiming he does not have the authority to remove the said workers as they are under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Health Office.
He also pointed out, May 16 is still under the election banning period, which prohibits the hiring or firing of government employees.
Estrao said the affected workers may file a formal complaint with the Ombudsman.
He also recommended the affected employees to file a complaint before the town council as they also have the power to penalize erring barangay officials.
The mayor added, Baldegamo’s actions were baseless and an “abuse of power.”/DGB, WDJ
