Both the Go for Gold Scratchers-Benilde Blazers and St. Clare Saints-Virtual Reality advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2019 PBA D-League earlier this week at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City. Go for Gold beat McDavid Apparels, 119-101; while St. Clare defeated the AMA Online Education Titans, 119-89.
Clement Leutcheu and Ilonggo Edward Dixon teamed up to provide the Scratchers with an early 37-21 advantage their lead extended to 31 points in the second half.
Leutcheu finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals; Dixon scored 10 of his 16 points in the opening frame; Roosevelt Adams chipped in a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds; Justin Gutang had 12 points and six assists; and Jeremiah Pangalangan, Prince Carlos, and James Pasturan each contributed 11 points.
“We’re happy we made it to the quarterfinals,” said Scratchers head coach Charles Tiu. “That [was] one of our goals this conference because it’s a very stacked conference.”
Meanwhile, Joshua Fontanilla and Darwin Lunor led St. Clare with the former firing 11 of his 16 points in the first half, on top of six rebounds and five assists; while the latter added 13 points, alongside six boards and three assists./ASC, WDJ
