Valmayor: Provide assistance to stop insurgencies
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga
Newly-elected Negros Occidental first district Rep. Gerardo Valmayor said, once formally sworn into office next month, he plans to emulate outgoing third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez.
The congressman-elect said he will prioritize the local sugar industry and craft new laws to “bring better service to constituents.”
When pressed on how to handle insurgent groups, such as the New People’s Army, he said poverty alleviation is key.
“We hope to give more livelihood and services to the far flung areas of the district,” Valmayor explained.
