AdMU wins UAAP women’s volleyball title

Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) captured the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball title after their 25-17, 25-22, 25-22 win over University of Santo Tomas in a decider last Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Kat Tolentino led the win with 15 points, including 11 attacks; while Madeleine Madayag added 10 markers.
AdMU got off to an 11-5 start but UST rallied to come within 14-12. AdMU then leaned on consecutive errors by UST to establish a 22-12 advantage for a 1-0 set edge.
AdMU took an early lead in the second set but a strong run from UST put them up 16-12. Later in the set, hits from Madayag and Tolentino put AdMU up 24-22 before the set was closed on UST error.
In the third set, AdMU jumped to a 16-9 lead behind Madayag and Tolentino. UST eventually tied the set at 21-21; however, Tolentino, Madayag, and Jules Samonte applied the finishing touched for AdMU./ASC, WDJ
