A 68-year-old woman was killed after she was backed over by a delivery truck Wednesday afternoon along the national highway in Barangay Bubog, Talisay City.

Police identified the fatality as Roselyn Bulahan, a resident of the said area.

Talisay City Police Station traffic investigator, Police Corporal Aljun Bautista, said the delivery truck, driven by 51-year-old Benjie Sebio, was heading north at the time of the incident.

Sebio stopped by the roadside after missing a shop where he was supposed to make a delivery. As he was backing up, the driver failed to notice Bulahan, who was standing at the rear of the truck, and backed over the senior citizen.

Bulahan was immediately rushed to the city’s local health center for treatment but was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.

Sebio later surrendered to Talisay City police and may face a vehicular manslaughter charges./DGB, WDJ
