In a recent statement, reelected Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia continued his appeal for a 15-0 sweep.
Following last Monday’s midterm elections, his Grupo Progreso (GP) coalition currently occupies all major city positions except for the last spot on the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod.
As of data gathered last Tuesday, incumbent Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr., a member of the opposing Asenso for Better Bacolod-Magbinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan coalition, occupies the 12th spot and is edging out GP candidate Marlon Solidum by 85,485 votes to 84,879, a difference of 606 votes.
“One of us is still fighting it out for the last council slot,” the mayor said.
Meanwhile, Leonardia characterized the win as a “mandate like no other.”/DGB, WDJ
