At least two people are confirmed dead, while nine others were injured, after a truck and tricycle collided Thursday night in Barangay Talaban in Himamaylan City.

Police identified the fatalities as Faith Joy Hontiveros, a 15 year old; and Joshua Valdez. Both were occupants of the tricycle.

The injured were identified as Dario Pontino, Roy Dagui, Danny Boy Sanny, Kevin Jade Montano, Jerick Orbena, Rema Rose Flores, Robert Porras, Paloma Grande, and Lorenz Gabriel.

Himamaylan City police chief, Police Lt. Colonel Ervin Glenn Provido, said the tricycle was traveling south as the truck was heading north towards Bacolod City. The tricycle reportedly tried to overtake another vehicle, but lost control, causing the vehicle to collide with the truck.

After receiving treatment at the hospital, Pontino was taken into police custody, while the rest of the injured continue to receive treatment./DGB, WDJ
