Warlito Parrenas of Cadiz City will be fighting for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) bantamweight title tonight against Japanese boxer Keita Kurihara at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The Negrense fighter will be looking to snap a two-match losing streak.
“I have prepared hard for this fight,” said Parrenas. “I am hoping to get over the hump and capture the OPBF championship.”
Towards the end of last year, the Cadiz City native fell to two Japanese opponents. He lost via knockout to Ryoichi Funai, followed by a unanimous decision defeat to Sho Ishida.
Parrenas previously retired from boxing in 2015 after losing the World Boxing Organization world super flyweight title to Naoya Inoue but returned to the sport two years later.
Meanwhile, Kurihara is currently on a four-fight winning streak, three of which were accomplished through stoppages.
Parrenas enters the fight with a 26-9-1 win-loss-draw record, including 23 stoppage wins; while his opponent has a 13-5-0 record, with 11 knockout wins./ASC, WDJ
